Is Xenia dying?

I've had my xenia in my tank for about 4 days now. It was doing well, and I followed all the directions for the drip acclimation procedure.

Today, I came home from school, and the xenia's main stems have seemed considerably shorter than they used to be. Furthermore, the little fingers have shrunk and are much thinner, and some of them even have this area that looks like its being pinched off and is turning gray.

Is it dying? or is it trying to fragment itself to spread?

with out pict it is difficult to say for sure . When we tried xenia here that is what it did before it melted into nothing , now I am not saying that is 100% the case for you , but you may want to run some perameters to see where you are at

how long has your tank been up what is the lighting ...some time xenia can be very tempamental for no reason , and it may be going through a "stage" of inflate deflate

I have seen mine do the same thing once in awhile only to return to normal later. I have to agree that you need to test your tank and post the results, a pic could also help out some.

mine went thru that a couple of weeks ago now I seem to have a bunch of babies around the mother coloney plus some new branchs on that so who knows it might be benifical but like the others said with out a pic and some parameters theres not much help we can offer just personal experiances

Thanks everyone. I haven't ad a chance to load the pics yet and post the params. I have them written at home somewhere, but I've been spending most of my time at school, sleeping in the library even, getting ready for exams. I'll post them up sometime this weekend. The xenia looks like it hasn't changed last night when i had a chance to go home and take a peek, not better, but not worse either. Thanks for all the help and info.

Parameters are all within normal and desirable ranges. I think my "xenia" might actually be anthelia... which comes from the same genus, but probably behave differently. Anyone have experienced what I described with their Anthelia?
