I have a ten gallon tank with some softys. I have an ehiem canister filter (the 35 gallon model) My inverts are:eek:ne emerald crab, one blue legged hermit crab, one cleaner shrimp, one black urchin with white spikes sorry i dont know the name, and one astrae snail. the fish i have so far is one false clown fish and one neon goby. I was wondering if it would be too much of a bio load if i added one yasha hase goby , a candy cane pistol shrimp and a nano goby from the Trimma genus. What do you guys think?

i would get rid of the clown fish, they have really high bio loads themselfs. i have kept all of the about in my ten with success. JMO i would also loose the urchin. a ten doesnt produce enough algae for them. emerald crabs can get aggressive as they get larger, plus he might eat your fish if he gets his hands on them. JMO though. HTH

Hmm, is their other signs of an urchin dieing besides dropping its spines? Ive had it in my tank for six months and it appears to look as healthy as day one. Although i dont know very much about urchins and it could be dieing for all i know. Also i have some diffrent types of algae growing in my tank which either means i have enough food for it or its not the right type of algae. Ill try to explain some of the diffrent types and maybe you could tell me if they are acceptable algaes for urchins o eat. One type of algae i have is nice bright green color that coats diffrent parts of my glass sides. My emerald crab likes to eat the stuff. The other type is kinda hairy greenish gray that grows on the live rock. And then there is small patch of brown algae spots here and there. Ill post some pics of the urchin and tank so you can get a look. the urchin was hitch hiker that a coworker gave to me. Hes had it for years and it hasnt grown bigger than a small bouncy ball so im guessing its reached full size or close to it. But if it really is deterioting in my tank ill give it away to a LFS or hobbyist.

well if he looks good, you might have enough algae. im not sure which kind you have but i always thought they ate mostly corraline algae. its up to you though, if hes doing good then you might be fine.
