Is this hair algae?

All of a sudden (overnight) I have what looks like filaments of silk hanging off my rocks. Some of the pieces are a couple inches long, some are even longer. Is this hair algae? It's sort of white in color, doesn't look green to me. What is it? And, more importantly, what eats it?

sounds like some sort of worm...i have a bunch of these on my rocks. hair algae is usually green, i could be wrong though. if you can get pics that would help greatly.
