Hey im new here

Hey im new to this forum. it looks GREAT! I have a 12gal nano-cube in the cycling process now. (will be gettings inverts this weekend) But yea, ive been keeping freshwater fish for around 7-8 years and so i started this salt stuff this year. SO far it has been awesome ( and i cant see going back besides my discus ) ALso sorry if this is the wrong forum if it is please move it

Thanks hogangtp and welcome to the forum! Great to hear we converted another one to salt hehe... The 12 gal is gonna be awesome. What do you have as far as lighting? How long has it been cycling? Please take some pics and update us along the way. To me, the initial setup/cycle and first few additions to the tank are the most exciting part. Keep us posted.

at the moment its been cycling for about a week and a half. It has 15lbs of LR, and i forgot how much live sand but definatly enough. Um it has a mini jet 404 in it as well. Lighting is just standard that comes on the nano-cube. but i may retro fit it with another 24watt PC. (maybe)

Sounds like a good start, you may want to consider an upgrade in lighting. I recommend the 15" 32 watt smartlite retro fit. I bought mine at

At the time it was on sale for $40. It is definitely worth it, bumping the tank to 4.67 watts/ gallon. Just an option you may want to check out. Post some pics and keep us updated

I agree, the 24w is a little on the weak side. I'd go with the 32 if you can.

So how is the cycle going? Any updates?

what i did was add the 32 to the stock lighting, so i have 56 watts total. I also know of people who just replaced out the 24 with the 32. either way would be an upgrade, and a good idea.
