Got a new Yuma today

Beautiful Yuma. The Yumas in particular are the hardest to keep. I had one that I got for free that was bleaching, and then it seemed to pull through and get color back into it....then a month or so later, it dissolved to nothing.

If they did as well as a regular ricordia, I'd get one, and the pink yuma in particular :)

Look at the time of your post dragon!

By the way, that ric is awesome. I need some more since I lost a few to my recent tank crash.

haha, i see, i see. I noticed my posting time, is not the same as the time here in Caliornia. Right now it's 5:19PM PST.

Anyway, I went and saw different colored rics....so wanting to buy, but too afraid to see it die. I need more info and advice on keeping alive. I hope though for 91racer it pans out well.

Thanks for all the comments. The larger of the two is already showing signs of pedal laceration. Yea for me!

I have thought of moving this to the tank with the metal halide, but I think my Yumas like my PC lighting better. Hard to say. I have some Yumas in the halide tank and they have split 4 times. The purple mushrooms have split 12 times.

That's what I have read from other people who have had Yuma's have seen them do better under PC's. I'm too much of a chicken to try a yuma of my own. Would you think if I have a florida ricorida that is doing fine, would a yuma do just as good, or is the Yuma more touchy? I'd imagine more touchy, and not too good of a comparison.... alas you the yuma owners know more.

to reefman: Yeah have I have seen Tongs Yumas and Rics, always so tempted, but without having enough information on proper care, I'd hate to have them dissolve to goo and lose out on close to 100 bucks.

I have three different species of Yumas and have had no problems with them. I give them the same considerations as my Ric Florida. They sit on the bottom portion of both my tanks.

Here is a pic of one other species I have. This pic was taken about 3 months ago.

And here it is as of today:

You can tell the blueness of the 20K bulb in this pic.

Those Yumas are awesome! I havent seen that variation before. Maybe we could trade a polyp for a polyp?

I've found that Yumas arent harder to keep just more... i guess... active. They change they're state every so often by shrinking up like they're gonna die but before you know it expand out and look better than ever. I do think if you have higher nutrient levels in your tank that has an adverse effect on yumas more so than floridas. They seem to be very responsive to changing conditions.

In conclusion.. I wouldnt hesitate to try one just keep your eye on it. I actually have more problems with blue zoos than with ricordia yuma. Dang things are finicky!
