John and Sergio at Global know their stuff. They are 2 of the 4-5 people that I trust from the LFS's in Houston to ask advice from. As for the person on Marsh that was particularly critical of them, well appeared to be trolling. He kept making very critical posts about Global without actually ever stating what his problem was. This guy was a crank as far as I'm concerned. There was another new person that had a legitimate problem with a piece of live rock that he bought from them, because it had a bunch of nuisance algae on it. This was their mistake and they took action to rectify the situation, but it got all blown out of proportion because the customer didn't watch the rock being chosen from the live rock tub, then he didn't call the store, even though many people told him that the owner doesn't really deal with email/web communcation well. He got upset because he wasn't getting any responses to his emails or pm's, but he never called the store and talked to them. Another club member actually had to go by the store and let the owner know what was going on so that he could address the issues. Hopefully they'll try to keep a closer eye on their email/marsh board in the future.

My first impression was not good about global but my second trip was great. I was curious because after talking to Sergio he assured me i could keep a clam in my tank under pcs. I dont remeber which species it was.

We made the same analysis as you did leaffish, but now really like them.

Best place to ask wither or not you can keep a clam, go to RCs clam forum area.

I had no problem keeping my crocea under PC's. I had one for just over a year. I had it high up just under the lights and it seemed to do really well. I decided to try it after Sergio said it should be fine. Everyone I asked on RC, or on clamsdirect.com's forums pretty much all said MH were necessary. I agree with them that MH make it easier, and that for maximas, and squamosas it's probably even more important, but you CAN keep croceas under PC lamps as long as you can get place the clam high up in the tank close to the lights, and you are very good about feeding plankton, and changing your lights every six months.
