so on the rock I'd bought from the LFS the other day, I found a gorilla crab. he disappeared into a hole in said rock and I've yet to see him again

just today I found what may be an aiptasia anemone. I'm not completely sure yet. there's only one I've found, and what's weird is it's on a rock I've had in the tank the entire time. I really really doubt it came from the new rock and moved onto this new one in just a couple days, but who knows. it's almost transparent, it's in a small crevice in the rock. its longest tentacles are as long as a dime is wide, if that. I dropped a little formula one pellet over it and it swallowed it pretty quickly. pretty much all of the aiptasia pics I've seen have some color, bands on the tentacles, etc. are there any anemones that match this description, other than aiptasia? :?:

oh and I tried taking pics, but it ain't happenin. my only camera at the moment is my phone, and it has no macro mode at all so taking a close up pic is impossible

I would bet that what your looking at is aptasia. Ive had to nuke alot of aptaisia so far in my experience with the hobby, ( my LFS has a big problem with them), and alot of the smaller ones don't have any color. I've also noticed that they seem to be much lighter if the live in shady parts of your tank. I would go ahead and zap it now before there are more. As for the gorilla crab, all I can find online says get rid of him before he gets a hold of another tank member. Hope something here helps.

aptasia will pop up from time to time. I've got new ones sticking their little noses out of rocks I've had for ten months with out any signs of them before. Just give him a dose of Joes Juice. be careful with that stuff though.... It can hurt other inhabitants in your tank.

no its not a mushroom it almost looks like a trumpet or candy cane, yet a little different. it has very small little fingerlike projections coming off of it when it's open, and looks like ridges coming from the center. I think it's a LPS because when it's receded it's still hard. def. not a softie or anything like that
