Flatworm Exit with positive results!

Just wanted to let eveyone know that I finally broke down and tried Flatworm Exit (made by Salifert) the other day and it worked great! I followed the directions exactly (didn't add any more or less) and within 45 minutes, those suckers were floating around dead! I siphoned out the dead ones, ran carbon for 2 days as instructed and did 2 massive water changes and there is not one single flatworm in my tank! All the corals did fine. Some of the mushrooms were obviously affected but within 2 days, they were back to normal. I highly recommend the stuff. Should have done it much sooner. :lol:

Just a little update...its been over a week since the dosing and I'm starting to see a few baby flatworms in the tank. There aren't very many and I'm hoping to just siphon them out as I see them to keep them under control. I might redose in a few weeks in an attempt to knock them out for good.

Corals are all still fine from the original FWE dosing.

I just used this the other day. I did a 5gal water change a day after. Conn, when I was talking to you, you suggested dosing FWE again 2 days or a week later? I haven't seen any yet, but if they were eggs, they might have survived the origional nuking.

None of my corals showed any damage from it. Ran carbon hard (put the bag on the intake of my sump pump so it had to pull the water through the bag for 1 day solid, and now the carbon is sitting in the sump.

It was fun to watch those b@stards curl up and die.

Yes, I'd dose it again full strength just to knock them out completely. I guarantee you, there are some still lurking around in your LR. Your corals should all be fine because less flatworms=less toxin release when they die. I'd then wait another two days then do your regular 20% WC.

I have found that running FWE in the system afterwards helps after the initial "nuking"!

I saw a few stragglers so yeah, tomorrow I'm going to nuke the tank again while I brew beer to keep an eye on it. Fishes, corals, beer and brewing...that my friends is a good sunday.

What color where your flatworms? Red, fleshy, or gray?

Fleshy colored. I've dropped FWE 4x now and there are still some in the tank. I'll check again when I get home tonight, hopefully this last attack took them all out.
