Firefish Question

OK, so I see in all my ID books that it says I shouldn't have two firefish at the same time unless they are paired. However, it's not really specifically answering my question, which is, can I have a regular firefish and a purple firefish?

My guess is probably not - they are awfully close. But I wanted to ask anyhow, just to find out for sure.

I was under the impression that the purple firefish was much more agressive and wouldn't tolerate regular firefish period. I don't have both of these, and for the life of me I can't remember where I read that.

I wouldn't recommend trying it unless you have them in a tank where you could easily catch one of them and had another tank to move it into. IMO they are too much alike and would fight. I also want to mention (though I am sure you are aware of it) that they are jumpers and need to be in an aquarium that has some kind of cover to keep them from jumping out and carpet surfing.

I had a purple fire fish and a red fire fish together in my tank until the red one died. But they both got along...its just that the purple one is a lot hardier than the red one.
