firefish or clown goby

I would like to add one of these fish to my exsisting tank and would like to know which one you would choose that would be good and easy to keep??

Red Firefish or Yellow Clown Goby

My tank:

10 gal
just about 4 yrs old now
2 clownfish
1 coral banded shrimp (the small kind)
assorted mushrooms, toadstools, BTA
12 lbs live rock

You MUST have a very secure lid with NO openings in order to house a firefish. They are notorious for being jumpers and can aim for the smallest opening. I think that with the 2 clowns, you would be best to add the clown goby because he will stay perched on the sand bed and the rocks while the clowns will spend most of their time actively swimming in the water column.

One thing I am worried about with the clown goby is the feeding of them. Do you find them easy to feed??

I feed a variety of frozen and flaked foods and if they will eat those then I don't mind getting one.

They are very darling indeed and would certainly add a nice punch of color to the tank.

Another thing is that they are tiny and I don't think would cause a problem with the two clowns unlike the firefish might be the 3rd man out if you know what I mean.

Do you find a difference between the green ones and the yellow ones??

Also my LFS calls them "Yellow Coral Goby"

The yellow gum drop is a good eater of small particles of food that swim by his face, he'll lunge for them. He doesn't chase food as do your clowns so he might die of starvation if not spot fed.

Like Jesse said, they will perch on the ground, rock, or coral. I've seen them get aggressive around their own kind.

They are very inexpensive, we are talking only $4 bucks for one out here in SF bay area...
