Feather Duster

Can anyone tell me if Feather Duster's are known to split?? I've had an Hawaiian in my 20 g for about a month now, and recently it seems like the crown is starting to grow down the middle of the radiole. It's starting to look like two different mouth, or tube entrances are starting to form.....don't know if they reproduce a-sexually, and that's what it is, or what....

good question: I personally am not sure but can you get a picture in? I'm sure it may help out. I'm thinking perhaps it's loosing it's old crown and forming a new one?? Let us know what your findings are on this, and again hope we can see a pic to gain a good look and go from there.

Unfortunately, since i'm still in college (and don't have a "real" job), i don't have enough spending money to purchase a digital camera.......any left over cash i have goes straight into my tank. as i am sure you all now, our hobby isn't exactly cheap. Anyways, i looked at the duster again tonight, and it seems like the crown growing across the radiole and opening, has become thicker......it's starting to look like the tube has two openings now.....the "feathers" around the openings are becoming thicker, almost like more are beginning to grow. Like i said, it's a little less than a month old, so it definitely could be growing a new crown as it is still pretty small......sorry i couldn't get a picture, hope this info. helps describing it.....THANKS

Firefish,

You don't need those expensive digital cameras that cost hundreds. Did you know that you can get a really good digital camera for under 30 dollars? Creative labs makes them, it would help in identifying problems in your tank via a pic...
