Enjuried Sea Star / Star Fish

Okay... I've got a Sand Sifting Starfish and I found it one day at the back of my tank stuck in a small play (it was upside-down, and bent in half). I managed to get it out of the spot but noticed that one of its arms were almost completely servered. The only thing that is keeping it attached to the rest of the body these two blue/green veins. The nearly severed arm is still working (little suction cups are moving around from time to time), but the rest of the body is just dragging it around and causing it to flip and twist from the main body.

What should I do???

Jay :cryinga:

I say cut it off. They can regenerate. I know a couple people who use those stars to feed harlequin shrimp.

the two parts naturally seperated, and they are both moving around on their own... so wierd to see...

Idol Hand!!!!!! I have seen a star cut extremely close to halves and the one side survived. Don't worry it will grow back, just make sure nothing fuzzy (possibly fungus) grows on it.
