Anyone know anything special about these guys. I've been told they are hard to keep and I've been told they're easy to keep. Also that they eat phytoplankton. He's been here with me for about a week now and he seems pretty happy got himself stuck to a rock so I couldn't move him if I wanted.

Just make sure you are feeding a good LIVE filter feeding food like DT's phytoplanton or some other refrigerated microplankton food. I dont know too much about these guys, but havent heard many great success stories. Is his "mantle"flashing at all?

I've been feeding Kent Marine PhytoPlex. Should I just put it in the tank or should I spot feed him. Yes his mantle is flashing. It's pretty cool. you can see a little of it lit up in the photo above. I'll look into getting some Live food like you mentioned. He still seems happy. how can you tell when a clam is eating or not? If he's open and his tongue is hanging out along with all his tentacles and his mantle is flashing does that mean he's eating?

Well it's not a "flame" scallop however I have heard it called and electric Scallop as well as electric clam. I've heard they are difficult to keep alive because they don't eat. We will see. I've been spot feeding it and he looks very happy. He found a nice little cave to settle into that I can still see him in and he stays open the majority of the day with his mantle glowing pretty regularly.
