Does anyone know of a great digital camear thats under 250 with great macro shot capabilities? I was thinking of the Minolta Dimage Z2 but would like to get peoples opinions here first. Thanks

Looking at the Z2 specs it looks like a pretty decent camera. If I were looking at cameras point and shoot prosumer type cameras right now I'd probably go with the nikon coolpix 5400. It's been discontinued so there are some really good rebates right now that bring it down to about $300.

Check out dpreview for tons of info on cameras.
Here's the side by side comparison on the dimage and the nikon. You can get to this feature in the buying guide link on the main page.

Id stay away from minolta. Just my opinion. I would also stay away from cameras that have lenses that are small and don't protrude. They don't allow enough light in like a camera with a larger lense would. Makes sense?

Personally, I would stick with Canon. They have the best cameras on the market, the best support and quite frankly - you can not go wrong. There is a camera for any budget from Canon. I am not being biased. I have used Nikon, Kodak, Sony, Minolta, Canon and Fuji. The order I myself would buy cameras..

Canon
Fuji/Nikon
Sony

Everything else if I was desperate. You will thank me later. Also note, getting macro shots with "budget" cams is not as good as say a cam that is 1800 dollars. So prepare yourself.
