For those who do not have a silencer for your air intake on your skimmer, here is a really easy and quick way to make one yourself.

All you need are the following materials,

1x small pill bottle with lid
1x 5cm length air tubing
1x long enough length to connect from your skimmer air intake
1x air tubing connector so you can connect the silencer tube end to the skimmer tube.
Silicon glue or plumbers glue or super glue gel.

Right, here we go...

*Undo the lid from the pill bottle.
*Drill two holes in the lid so the tubing will just fit through. Make sure the holes are on opposite ends.
*Take the 5cm length air tube and feed through one of the holes about half way, then glue it in place making sure you seal the hole around the tube.
*Do the same with the long length of tubing with the other hole.
*Wait until the glue sets.
*Connect the air tubing connector on the long length of tubing and attach that to the skimmer air tube.

FINISHED!

As soon as I have taken a photo of my silencer, I'll post it here.

Before it sounded like someone was sucking through a straw with a little bit of water in it. VERY LOUD.

With this silencer, it has pretty much gone!

It's a very simple project, but extremely effective. :D
