Does anyone know what type of damsel this is?

The body of this fish is a very pale creamy yellow, the head back to the gills is a very soft purple, there is a very small black dot on either side of the gills too.

Thanks for the replies. But it is neither of those posted. I have a yellowtail damsel and it looks nothing like it. The color in the picture is what it looks like all the time. I am beginning to think it might by a cross of something if that is possible in the marine world. It is very pretty and the two tone colors are just so soft.

In the fish store all it said was purple head damsel

Thanks.....Loki

I recognize this fish. My LFS has them. I can't remember their name at the moment, but I'll check there tomorrow (I have to go there anyway) and try to find out its name.

The problem with trying to identify a damsel is that there are a lot of different types, and many of them change their color and patterning completely between juvenile and adult. Unless a species is VERY popular/common in the hobby the LFS often don't have them labled correctly. I've bought two different damsels that were labeled honey damsels, and neither one was right.

You might try looking here. Type damsel into the common name, make sure you have contains on the drop field. On the returns click on the scientific name and if they've got images it'll come up.
