Damn as if talking about the cleaner shrimp dying wasn't enough, now this! The neon blue goby that was very healthy and eating just fine, the other day has disapeared. Those guys are so small so its hard to say. I checked chambers 1, 2, and 3 for it, but haven't spotted anything. Either it jumped back there, or it got attacked or died in the jbj 12.

Although water checks out again as okay, I'm having Sandra do a massive water change tomorrow. I think 50 percent, and see what the deal is. I know the test kits are new, one i bought, and the other I won here. both saying great positive results. The only problem again is that cyano backteria/red slime. It's causing those stupid bubbles and irratating the zoos. I have two pumps running in there, one that's the upgraded pump, and the other is the pump that came out of my jbj 6, I put in the 12 as an extra. Flow showing nice. The only thing that it started acting this way was introducing the chemi-clean product. It did wonders before, but this time around I notice two deaths this week? The product says it's reef safe on everything, so I wonder....what if one of the fish or the shrimp attempted to eat it and it croaked? It does spit through the pump and sometimes you see the white bits.......

The other theory is the emerald crab.....but he hasn't grown or molted since he was purchased. I hate to put the blame on the booger and although I haven't caught him in the act of attacking.....it's hard to say. I'm puzzled, so I am going with having to do a water change, and keep doing big water changes until that bubble crap leaves the tank.

sorry about you fish Steven,

Ours jumped from the pico last week. I found it dead on the table, it was very sad.

Mike told me to flush it down the bathroom. I felt sad in that day.

Hope you find you fish in tank and not on the floor.

GREAT NEWS!

The incredible happened! THe neon blue goby has appeared but in the most craziest way! Well as you know, I had my girl do that 50% water change, which when we dropped it down that far, sandra started cleaning the glass, near the powerhead nozzle, and she felt something slimy and squirming, it jumped from the paper towel she was using to the floor. I was like what the heck is that??

I look closer and it was the goby!! I have a feeling he was stuck somewhere and sandra unstuck him and he simply fell to the floor. I quickly grabbed him and put him in my jbj6 gallon for him to recover. It's been an hour, and I think he's coming around. I'm just glad that booger is alive. I was going to get my girl a new fish to make her feel better but now that he's alive, that saved me, hehe.

Glad it was something else as opposed to thinking a predator was on board or that mr. emerald was the bad seed. I can say that Sandra's water looks better, a 50% water changed, helped with all that nasty bubbles cyano bacteria. We'll be keeping tabs and doing big water changes until the tank goes back to normal.

well I found a flaw in the jbj of any tank size. In the back right and back left...there is a hole just big enough for that goby to squeeze through and get to the back chambers. I figure that's how it disapeared in the first place. To remedy the situation, since he's in my tank now, I put two pieces of clear wax in those two areas, making it impossible for that booger to squeeze through. I hope that does the trick, as without them, he'll get up there and end up in the back somewhere, sheesh! What a goby to be such the explorer.

You could just put a bit of silicone in the holes to plug them up.

When you're using the chemi-clean are you disolving it in cup of tank water first, then adding it to the back of the cube? This should keep anything from trying to eat it.

Glad you found the goby. The've been kinda scarce around here lately. I've only seen a couple in the stores, and they were extremely tiny.
