I bought a new piece of live rock over the weekend and came home with what looks like a red crab attached. He doesn't have a shell and when I called the LFS they said don't worry he'll grow one?
LFS's aren't always the most knowledgeable. Personally I have never heard of one growing their own shell but I don't know a great deal about crabs either
I have really really gotten bad advice from several LFS! My tiny blue crabs another store said would not need new shells and one moved into a small shell in the crushed coral within 24 hours. Crusty has been there since Friday soooo do I need to go out and buy a "house" for the little guy? I get way better advice online from forums then ll the local stores.
they dont grow shells, they borrow them. if you dont have any empty ones he might kill a snail for a new home, but youll have to get some if you dont have any.
