coral question

does anybody know anything about this coral, anybody keeping one ....i picked it up at my LFS,the one i have is a clipping. will have a pic tomarrow. well i think this is what i got....this is what they told me it was. they have been wrong..

the coral i have or so i was told i have by my LFS, is a piece of pavona or cactus coral......i was just wondering if anybody has any of this in there tank......sorry i wasnt more specific...

I believe its not a leather at all but its hard to say for sure from the picture because I don't know exacty what seperates them out but it is either Pavonia which is the "cactus coral" or Pectinia, Merulina, Pachyseris, or Hydnophora???? my bet would be Pectinia but it is bushy like my Hydnophora. All are fleshy hard corals somewhere between LPS and SPS. Most like high light and really glow under actinics. They need high water movement as well. My Hydnophora is under 6 inches of water below a 175MH and is in full current for my tank, and loves it.

Nope, it's definitely not a leather. It's pavona. At least according to liveaquaria, which is where the pic is from.

It's the same thing I have in my nano that is re-growing tissue. That's what the little weird green polyp looking things I had is.

Here's a link to the thread that shows the beginnings of the tissue starting to come back. Once I get the replacement camera I'll take some more pics showing how much it's progressed.

this is what i wrote earlier in this thread......i was just looking for someone with experience with this coral....sorry again
