cooking LR

If it's dried out, there will probably be a smell, but not as bad as if it were in a tank recently. Not sure on what temp or for how long. I don't think I'm brave enough to try this

Actually, I boiled a large piece of lr because after three weeks of trying to get a mantis out, I was at my wits end. He had killed two fish, several blue legs and even some snails. And yeah...it stinks to actually do it. I know that is terrible but it turned into a war.

LOL....Yep I bet that boiling it would stink the place up....I'd just leave it outside, or in fresh water for 48hrs.

It also left a weird color in the pot. Had to throw out. So in the end, it would have been cheaper to just buy another rock. I had tried the bath tub method and the club soda method, nothing worked. Desperation creates insanity, so I boiled him alive ha ha ha!!! I won!!! Ha ha ha. Where's my medication.

LOL....If you know what hole they're in, you can squirt rubbing alcohol in the hole. It'll kill them pretty much instantly. This is what I had to do with a gorilla crab that I couldn't get out of one of my pieces of LR. The LR had lots of mushrooms on it so I couldn't just leave it out. I tried FW dips, and that didn't get him out. Finally I got a syringe and just sprayed the alcohol in the hole it was in. That did it. It sort of fell out of the hole when I turned the rock over and shook it. Or at least it fell forward enough that I was able to get a pair of tweezers in there and drag it's corpse out. Then I rinsed the rock very well with the fresh water again before putting it back in the tank.
