The light that you posted would look very unappealing on a reef tank... far too yellow. Event he 6500k replacement lamps would look very yellow.

Is this for the 20L? Look into a couple of 65 watt power compacts. That should be enough to house the basic low to medium light "beginner" corals. You shouldnt have to spend $400 on your lighting.

I read an article a while back about someone who did just that. For our nanos it's not too bad, but it's a pretty good DIY.

Switch 420. Hi! I have added a puck light, with a xenon bulb to my eight gallon nano, for suppliment lighting. I started this as an experiment, and it is great! Of course, I still have the two 18 watt power compact bulbs, one 10,000 K, and one actinic, that came with the tank. This is a small light that I have attached to a small fan, that is velcroed over the opening of my tank! It hangs over the hole, and shines down into the tank, and the fan sucks the heat straight up and out. The light bulb, is a 20 watt 120 volt light bulb. It runs 95 on the color reference scale, and closely mimics natural daylight. It runs cooler than a halogen bulb. The light came with a halogen bulb in it, from Home Depot, for around nine dollars. I replaced the bulb, with a xenon, for around five dollars! They are using these bulbs in the UK for small tanks, but I have researched, and I haven't seen them used for larger ones yet. I just wanted some extra lighting for some of my corals! It shimmies like Metal Halide light! So far, I am very happy with it. It only made the temperature of my tank, go up 5/10 of a degree! It could be a consideration for some of you also. If anyone is interested, I can post pictures of my setup.

Ok! :) As I said in above post, the light and bulb can be bought at Home Depot, or online. They are called Puck lights for your ceiling! They come with a cord, that the plug end has to be attached. The bulbs are 20 watt 120 volt xenon bulbs. The little fan I got, was from Walmart. It is a battery powered, with the capability of being changed to plug in, with an adaptor. The adaptors are at Walmart, also. This time of year, Walmart puts their fans away, so you might want to check online, or at a dollar store, our hardware store. THe fan can be adjusted to different hights, by clicking it up and down. I velcroed the fan, over the opening of the lid of my Biocube. I took the flap door off completely! I also velcroed the little light, underneath the center of the fan, which can be adjusted to shine where you need it most. Just make sure you use plenty of velcro! :) Here are the pictures of my tank before, and after, and of my set up. Top of fan, Fan with light underneath, Fan lifted up, with light, And the fan and light, with the plastic lid I made, to keep my fishies in! :)

lol, somehow, I got the pictures backwards. First, is the fan, then the after, then the before, finished tank opening, fan up with light, then the light under the fan.

I just saw a new screw in light bulb, with three LEDs in it at Walmart. I didn't check to see how powerful they were. Could check them out too.
