Bubble Algae

Hi guys,

I think I have a lot of bubble algae on a new coral I got. It came free on the rock. How do I get rid of it?

Here is a pic just to make sure it is bubble algae.

Thanks,

Eric

sur is.....

I have had it from time to time, but it was never a problem. I just left it alone and over time it was gone.....I am guessing between the clean up crew and it just not liking my tank.

I would take the coral to the sink and manually remove as much as possible and even use a toothbrush if you have to. I always have a little in my tank and just pull it out, but I have seen tanks where they let it get out of control and it can be a plague.

When removing it make sure its done out of the tank like John mentioned, if one of the bubbles pops it releases spores that form new bubble algaes.

Thanks guys, I will clean it up next time I do a water change and use the old water to clean it.

I second taking the rock out and manual removal. However if you find it is spreading throughout the tank an emerald crab should clean it up. It worked for me. I see you have a 2.5G tank. Is this where the bubble algae is? If so an emerald would probably be a bit much for that small of a tank.

RE:

I was able to get most of the bubble algae off of that rock. I took the rock out of the tank and used old tank whater in a bucket.

Thanks for all your help.
