So this past weekend I went through the process of bottling my latest beer. Off a recomendation (for something akin to Guiness) I did an Imperial Stout. I have my doubts as to how it'll actually be like Guiness for several reasons. 1, the put skunked guiness in guiness when making it. I did not do that. 2. Guiness is a low alcohol beer (just thick and good).
It smelled really good and now I've got to wait 2 weeks for it to carbonate. A huge argument for kegging but I do believe bottle conditioned beer tastes better (much finer CO2 bubbles vs. forced carbonation). The other thing is I finally remembered to take readings of the beer before and after fermentation to determine alcohol. This puppy comes in at near 8%.
A friend also wants to give her (yes a woman, how cool is that?) hand a shot at brewing so I'm going to lend her my equipment and walk her through it. I really want to do a Honey Ale next (Conn, you may remember Crouch's honey ale from back on Manuel Dr.). I figure if I'm going to have a thick dark beer I should also have a nice light one on hand as well.
My brewery is "Something Phischy" and I haven't decided if I should name this one "Stupidity Stout" or "Dijibouti Dreamin'" I'll probably know after I get hammed on it.
Anyone here a graphic artist that wants to do a little free work? I really would like to make some labels but I have zero graphic's skill.
