Hey- was wondering if anyone here speaks any language other than english and bad english?

I speak some french and spanish and plan on becoming fluent in both. The languages I have planned to learn are the following..

Spanish
French
German
Japanese

Anyone speak any of these and or have some tips for me? I am using the Pimsleur Learning CD's. They seem really good and I have already learned a little of each language with only a few minutes of listening to them.

Please share ! :)

I served in the army as Russian and Serbian-Croatian linguist and am married to a mexican (so my spanish is on the rise). I have lost most of my Russian but am still quite good with my Serbian-Croatian. The best thing that will help you is to find someone that is native (or is able to converse in the language) and make them speak ONLY that language to you, and NEVER NEVER NEVER use english with you. Sounds harsh but it is the best way to learn a foreign language. Watch Telemundo and all that and listen to spanish radio stations. Don't panic you won't be able to tell much about what is going on at first (may even take a year to catch the occasional sentence) but if you look up 5-10 words a day and then use them that day as often as you can you will have an impressive vocabulary very soon. Good luck to you!!!

Tim

P.S. It's always nice to learn a bit about the culture along with the language as very few things translate directly from english to another language.

Dobro srece / Buena Suerte / Good luck
