Beginner Corals

What are some good corals to start with? I currently have a 12 gallon aquapod with artificial corals, but def want to venture into live ones. I was thinking about some mushrooms and polyps. Also, how can I best prepare my tank to receive the corals (i.e. water quality, suppliments, etc.)? Below are specifics about my tank:

12 Gallon Aquapod a year matured with two clownfish, three astraea snails, and three blue leg hermits.

Surface skimming filtration system, 1-27W square pin Dual Daylight 6700°K/10000°K Daylight bulb, 1-27W square pin Dual Actinic 420nm/460nm Actinic bulb, 2 blue LED lights, cooling fan, mechanical sponge filter, 160 gph submersible pump with flat nozzle, and complete instructions.

Thanks!

Well you seem to be doing great! Stick to corals that are not high light demanding and honestly just add them in! (Ask to see if your LFS dips their corals to get rid of pests)

morphs and zoanthids...pretty hardy don't need any specific feeding or care, do well in low to medium light....Some of the brightest coloured corals around to

Thanks to you both! I will do some research into those low to medium light corals. I'm checking into mushroom and polyp corals currently. I'm not one to just dive in, so I like to do my research before putting new critters in my tank. I'll also ask the reef shop I go to if they dip their corals to get rid of pests. Thanks again for your feedback!

No problem! And if you reef shop doesn't dip that doesn't make it a bad place, you just should then dip stuff before adding to you display tank. (easier than it sounds)
