Ballast covered with saltwater!!!!

I just got a 24 gallon NC and a odyssea 250 watt hqi fixture. I'm currently cycling the tank the last 2 weeks. After coming home the power head seamed to have came off of the nozzle that directs the current into the tank. So water was being shot upwards out of the tank. I took off the lid since I was using the fixture! The ballast got saltwater all over it, I tried drying it off and it made a fizz and began smoking. I open it up and hope that it comes alive some how.

If it is dead can anyone direct me to a new ballast for a 250 watt hqi bulb? I don't want to spend too much.. if things get bad I'll just sell it on ebay and maybe someone else can fix it and be happy. Thanks

Jesse,

So these would work even though my lighting is a 250 watt HQI? I understand the wattage is at 250 but just what you recommeded gives me the impression that HQI or metal halide bulbs does make a diffrence? Thanks for the fast reply. Sorry to hear about your camera too!

Which lamp are you running? The Hamilton ballast is designed for DE lamps, the electronic will work too, you may just get a little less output with the electronic as well as probably a little bit bluer tint with the electronic.
