Is there a way to mod a standard Bak pak 2r so i can use it on a sump/fuge? I have plans on a 20L with a 10-15g fuge undertank (either this one http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/sumps/f/sump_f.html or this one http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/sump ... del_m.html ). The easiest way, though, seems to be using a standard 10 and using the standard 8"x10" glass from home depot which fit perfect in a 10g for baffles. Ive been reading alot on Melev's reef site...wow, what a help!! Heres a link.

Anyways, can the bakpak work, or would i need a new skimmer?

You can make the sump work for the BakPak. Place a baffle so that it is on the end where the water comes in high enough that the water level is near the top of the tank, this is the section where you put the skimmer. From there water will overflow that baffle and the rest is up to the design of your choosing. HTH, SKip

BTW, using a 15 high instead of a 10 will make it so the skimmer doesn't hang below the tank and it adds another 5 gallons of volume so you can have a good sized refugium and still have room for the extra water if the power goes out. SKip

Thanks for that link!! i had seen that, but sort of pasted it over since i wasnt interested in a sump/fuge at the time. I am aiming for a similar design...curious as to how you have the water exiting the tank...Overflow? I am cosidering using a 20H because that is what I have laying around. How do you like those bioballs? I know there are many designs now for those balls...is LR rubble a good choice?

drty...couple more questions. you used glass for the baffles, right? Did you cut it yourself? did you just silicone them into place? what kind/thickness glass did you use?

thanks.

all i used was acrylic plexi glass from home depot....the thicker stuff. they have two different thicknesses and i used aquarium silicone. rubble would be better for the smaller tank.
