Baby Niger Trigger?

Would it be feasible to keep a 2- or 3-inch baby Niger Trigger in a 24-gallon FOWLR NanoCube?

I have not even purchased the tank yet, let alone set it up, but I am doing my research well in advance. If I can do the baby Niger, I will stock the tank based on what will go well with him, as he would be my showpiece.

I have a good friend who has a 150-gallon tank. It's broken down and awaiting shipment to him new house, but it will be set up in less than a year and populated with the contents of his 55-gallon predator tank. He's already promised that if I get a baby Niger, and WHEN (not if!) it outgrows my NanoCube, he'd be glad (no, ecstatic!) to give it a new home.

Also, several of the LFSs in my region do fish trade-ins, so that would be another option.

So...what do you guys think? Baby Niger Trigger in a 24-gallon NanoCube? Yes/no? Why?

Hi! While I don't have a trigger, I have another large fish and they grow really fast: within half of year from thumbnail to a palm size, hand size - within one year. I had to buy big tank in 7 months.

Another factor: length of the tank. Fish, except sitting on the rock and wiggling kinds (clown, wrasses), usually swims big distance along the tank at single fin's movement. Cube, even so big as 24 gal, has depth to the back wall, but not much on length. Any long tank is preferable, but they take more wall place than cubes, and common basic ones look much worse.

You also will have limited choice of tankmates, you know already about that.

Just in case, if you will be interested, there are an excellent descriptions of large number of fish living in 24 NC, small and not aggressive though. Search web for member name mwp, 24 gal Nano Cube and signature Mark.

Best of luck luck with your setup and Happy New Year!
