Attaching Soft coral frags

I want to try fragging some soft corals such as mushrooms and was wondering what other people use to attach the cutting to a new rock. I was thinking of using superglue but would this be toxic and dangerous in a reef tank?

You can NOT super glue softies. They will die.

There are so many ways to attach softies, there should be a book about it. Some use toothpics shoved in leathers and then they glue the toothpick to the rocks. Some use rubber bands to split rics, shrooms and the like or use them to keep them attached to rubble until they grow to attach.

Some use stocking net over a tub with cuttings inside sitting on rubble until they attach. Then they attach the rubble with glue to a larger rock.

It all depends on what works for you.

I've always use a tupperware cup filled with rubble, placed the softie in the cup and attached netting with a rubberband to the cup making sure the softyis snug against the rubble, but not squashed and then set it in a low flow area in the tank for a couple weeks. Works everytime.

Ok, thanks.

So is it ok to put the frag straight back into the main tank (in the container etc) straight after cutting because I heard that the juices (don’t know technical term?) that are excreted would be dangerous to the other inhabitants of the tank.

shouldn't be a problem, I do it that way all the time, but it does depend somewhat on the types of corals you have in there because some are more suseptable - some people like to change the carbon if they are going to do a lot of fragging
