Sounds like it split to me. Asexual reproduction is a weird thing.

Congrats on the new anemone.

That is so cool!! how long have you had that anemone and how big was it fully expanded before the split.

ive had it about six months and it was about 6-8 inches expanded. after a month of having it, it doubled in size. i moved it to my ten gallon so i could get it off a huge piece of LR and trade it in. two days after i moved it over night it split...the rest is history :!:

Yes, buy a cam.

Canon S400 - From Dell - $399.00 - 15% - $339.15 - $35 Off Coupon = $304.15 w/Free Shipping. If you sign up for a dell prefered account you get an additional 2% off. A very nice cam I must say. Excellent price too. Coupon expires tomorrow.

Anyways, you can put the clown back in. It will not hurt the anemones. I have been through many splits and never had a problem with my 2 clowns. They know what's going on and go easy with them. The anemones are also already partially healed. They just need to form the mouth a bit more and get tentacles growing again. There should not be a problem.

A trick to get your clown out.. use some food if necessary. However what I do (I don't use nets, have not used them in years) is use my hand an a plastic cup (solo or the like). I put my hand in and let him get used to it for a min and then I slowly move my hand towards him and get him near a corner. I then put the cup in motion and coax him into it. Usually works within a few seconds. Make sure you get the cup or container in when you put your hand in. Also just use common sense on the placement of the container and where the clown MIGHT go.

I have not had any problems doing this. Most fish "run" for the corners when confronted. Usually the upper corners of the tank. Just make sure he doesn't jump out :)

just seperated my GBTA's from my largest piece of LR....everything went great. no problems.....they are stubborn though

Trying to peel them off of LR is a PITA. I've tried several things, but if they've got their foot in a deep enough hole it's nearly impossible. I managed to get my RBTA off of a piece of rock that needed to be moved into another tank by taking another smaller piece of rock and putting it over the anemone so it blocked the light. After a day or so it moved up onto the smaller rock, so I was able to remove the large one.
