Lighting/canopy

Hey did you make that canopy yourself. It looks sweet. Also since your light is inside the canopy does it raise the temp of your tank at all. how do you keep it so that the bulb gets enough space so it doesent create a fire or somthing. Im not experienced with compact flouresent, i use MH on my 55g.
