Algae Questions

Hello

I have a few questions regarding types and solutions to Algae's.

I have a little bit of Green hair algae starting to grow on the pump head inside the tank. Is this bad; should I try to fix it now before it gets out of control?

Also i have a few bright green bubbles of something just under the sand bed in the tank. It is right in the front and there are only 3 or 4 tiny bubbles. Is this something to worry about?

Also on our LR we noticed what looks almost purple in some spots and green on others. It's not thick and looks soft but not hairy? (i hope that makes sense)

Are these things bad for the tank? We have a 12 gallon nano cube; everything in it is stock; we have several shrimp, crab and snails, and 1 fish remaining. We are feeding 1/2 cube of frozen brine daily and our lights are on for 9 hours daily; The tank is approximately 2 months old.

thanks for your help

Hair algae - drop a mexican turbo snail in there.

Are the bright green bubbles between the glass surface and the sand, below the top of the sandbed? If so, normal, you'll also deveop some other nifty colors, red, brown, etc. Not a problem.

Purple and green on the rocks. Touch it. Is it soft or hard?

Stop feeding the brine shrimp. In a tank that size there is no need to be feeding that much on a daily basis, and brine shrimp have virtually no nutritional value unless it's newly hatched live brine. Let the clean up crew do their job. By overfeeding, you'll fuel the nuisance algae. Feed the one fish every other day, and choose a nutritional blend like Formula One, flake or frozen.

And, as always, a pic is worht a thousand words. Post up some pics so we can see the things you are describing. It's tough to make a positive ID from just a description
