abalone/red leg hermit

We have an abalone that hitchhiked on our LR. He is super cute! Got a red legged hermit crab to get at the algae ( nothing extreme or anything, just green everywhere), and he is eating nonstop!!!!!
two questions:
will the abalone be able to eat the supplemental algae also?
will the crab hurt the abalone?

any opinions appreciated
Thanks all!

BTW;
20lbs of LR, 20gal tank one damsel (for now) and many feather dusters, mushroom coral, one small abalone (1"), and a red leg hermit ( front claws are 1" long). I guess you might find that info useful.

I mean will the crab eat the abalone out of house and home? :cry:
I don't think it will. If I remember correctly the Abolone snails have the flat shells right? Not a typical type home for a hermit, so I think you are safe. But you may want to tell your snail to start pumping some iron :wlift just in case :lol3:

well, all that bid ol' crab did was eat for 3 days, so we traded him for 5 small blue legs. I guess it's just learn as you go.

When we researched on the web, many sites said red leg was same as scarlet....some said scarlets were good, aka red reef hermits...our red leg did not look like a scarlet and was already too big. my mistake
