70 watt HQI?

It seems like a reasonable price. Downside being it has no reflector, or UV shield (needed for a DE bulb). This could be made pretty easy though. It would no doubt increase the intensity of light in your tank. I think the 70w should work well for soft and non-acro corals. More is better for bright colored acros. The bulb is not the best, but it is a low cost way to get DE MH. 8)

I'm running an 70w aquamedic ocean light on my 5g nano. it's complete, with an attractive pendant, for about $240. the dr. lamp DIY kit is nicely priced, but after the cost of the DIY pendant, and the time it takes to put it together, it's not much cheaper. the ocean light also comes with 10k and 20k options (i'm using the 20k :D )

the AM is also well-designed. it comes with mounting hardware, the ballast has a built-in fan, and the spring loaded sockets are light years better than the ones in the PFO pendant (i've broken a bulb or two with the PFO sockets)

djconn: 70w is plenty bright for my 5g, but i would go with a 150w for a 20H.

Yeah, those OceanLights are very nice. Great quality also. I've seen some very poorly made fixtures, but these are not among them.

If you guys are into DIY projects you can make a 70w kit for around $150 to $200...just as good as anything you can buy. You can also make DIY 150 and 250 setups.
