I started making this reef on 7-30-05 and Added a peice of black plastic from a trashcan and made a small overflow. I cut teeth and siliconed it in. I placed my filter in the overflow part so that it could be hidden, and then I would never see evaporation in the main display, I also have a auto topoff switch in there.

ON 8-11-05 I started adding my first corals,
xenia, blasto, greenstar, zoos.

a shot of the overflow

Here is a few pics of what is in this tank.
My sexy surfing the GSP

Some zoos and blasto

As of a couple of days ago

and another of today

I hope you enjoy, now that I started all of this, I will be posting often.

I will be posting my sps 7 gal minibow later today.

hey 4 wheeler, not being critical, but I notice you have planarians, what are you doing about them - I accidentally introduced some to my tank and can't seem to get rid of them - they say they don't hurt anything but boy are they a PITA - I hate them!!! Have you or anyone else out there had any success getting rid of those things? I vacume them and blow em off with a powerhead but..... they always seem to come back.

yea they are tiny 1/8 inch red rust brown flatworms that are photosynthetic like corals because of the algae they have in their tissue. They don't really hurt anything but can become a nusence with they're sure numbers if you don't keep at them. the normal advice is just to blow em off the rock and suck em out and they will run their course and go away. I've also heard some selling a nudi that will eat them but I don't know how well they actually work. there is also a form of chemical warfare but I wouldn't even consider that unless I knew someone who had luck with it. I got them on a piece of live rock, and have been fighting them for about a month - I think I'm winning :) - but they don't know they're beat yet :(

JohnandDawn: I didn't even see that, but I see what you mean, you can see them in picture 7 and 8 pretty well. I was never aware of what they looked like. I heard from Phischy that to rid them, he uses Flatworm exit, Salifert product. Maybe that will help this person's tank.

Aside from the flatworms, very nice looking and matured tank.

I had an outbreak of flatworms in my 12 gallon tank, they were everywhere, and I thought they were good. Soon I found out they are bad and before I could get flatworm exit; they all disappeared.

I suspect it was my sixline wrasse that ate them, since he was always hunting; I will never know?

Flatworm exit works. I've posted several threads about my experience with it...all very good. Basically, I'd recommend dosing it once, no water change, then dosing it again about 2 days later then do the water change. That really seems to clear them out.
