3 gal questions

Hi,

I’m in the process of setting up a 3 gal tank. It’s ADA Mini S tank with the Solara 27w 8000k light fixture. I originally bought it thinking I would set-up a planted tank. But, since I’m also in the process of setting up a couple other nano reef tanks, I figure I’ll set the Mini S up as a PICO.

I have a couple questions. I think I’m going to use the light fixture I have for now and possibly replace it with a 12” Current Dual Satellite fixture if I don’t like the way it looks. I’m thinking about keeping some Acans, Micromussa and a few sexy shrimp.

I want to keep it simple so I’m not using a skimmer or filter, just water changes.

Do you think either of these light fixtures would be ok? Also, what would you recommend for circulation?

The 8000k fixture may feed algae, but for circulation any small power head should work. You may want to look into a small hang on back to keep you inside of the tank clutter free.

The 8000k feeding algae makes sense as its used primarily on planted tanks.

When you say small hang on back, do you mean a small filter or is there a powerhead that hangs on back?

I mean a filter. You can gut it out so it doesn't have anything in it.
