20 gallon tall lighting question

i have a 20 gallon tall tank.. 24l x 12w x 17h are the dimensions. .. im looking to put any kind of species or corals.. if i put a metal halide light on there what would be a good watts? 70? 100? 150?

some one told me that 150 is too much, and i seen ppl with a smaller tank go with 150 also..

or if i put a t5, how many watts?

I would go 150w Halide, I think I read somewhere that it is closer to the light spectrum of natural sunlight :gcool You may have to have it higher off of the tank to avoid some heat issues or just run a fan on the tank like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Metal-Halide-Aq...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item35a859a323

With the halide, you don't have to worry about light requirement for any coral now, mostly just placement.
