I have a 10 gallon story to tell

You dont need a protein skimmer with an established tank, you can simply use live rock/sand and powerheads, I said to start, as in the beginning stages of setting up a tank, I should have explained that sry. Though this LFS guy might actually know what he's talking about, a lot dont. So I...

I have a 10 gallon story to tell

It's not the easiest for newer hobbyists to keep smaller tanks, have you kept fish before?? I assume yes because you have the tank. Well, you'd need a protein skimmer($40+) to start, a powerhead(price ranges) will be a good thing to have too. A light, the more watts the better($100ish)...

A little advice would be appreciated thanks

I think most wrasses would outgrow this tank(unfortunately, they are beautiful), but if you have a plan for them(a new tank, or someone that'll want to but it from you) then you should be good.

A little advice would be appreciated thanks

Questions are good, we all ask them. First of all, are you new to fishkeeping in general? Or just new to slatwater? Either way, corals are something you should add once you have a little more experience. You could add damsels/cromis to start, then return them once you know what fish you...

Help -- Which One is the Best Tank??

Not really, as far as I know they're pretty much the same. Just the red sea is newer and more modern looking. The red sea is larger(34g right?), if so, if you are new it would be a little easier to keep water tempraments in check as it takes longer for them to change in larger volumes of...

starter fish wat to add besides damsels?

Though my tank isnt running yet, chromis are a more passive version of damsels. They're from the same family but not nearly as aggressive. They are what I'm starting with in my 28g tank, then a few snails/shrimp. I dont think that chromis would be happy for long ina a small tank though, they...

    Newb Question

I'd say that's much better, but I think a few more caves would be better. I've noticed a lot of inverts hide in caves all day and venture out more at night, so a few more caves(even smaller ones) would probably make them feel a little safer. Also, I think we have the same sand, I used it in a...

When adding new rock to a new tank do the lights need to be

What about the pieces of your cleanupcrew that eat algae? It might be beneficial to have a little algae in the tankfor when you add them, I know they'd be added after a few fish but I dont think it would hurt.

Lion fish and tankmates for them. Are they reef safe?

I've seen a young lion fish in a 34g tank with corals, inverts, a (juv) blue hippo tang, firefish, and i think there was a chromis in there. It was a young tank in general but everyone looked happy and healthy. Any one else, maybe some one who has kept them??

    Advice on setting up

I think it depends on the tank. For a reef tank(corals) I would have a protein skimmer, but others disagree. If you just have a fish only(FO) or fish only with live rock(FOWLR), it will be far less demanding when it comes to maintenance, and cheaper. Bigger is always better though, water...

Santa Came with my 28 JBJ HQI and i am clueless PLZ HELP!!

I would have posted this earlier but I had to go to work. Looking at your tank, all you'll really need is live sand, live rock, salt, hydrometer, and a heater. You might need filter media as well. That's a nice little kit.

Santa Came with my 28 JBJ HQI and i am clueless PLZ HELP!!

All the info you'll need will be online, so you can save your money for the expensive task ahead. What you'll need is based on what you want to do. It is reccomended that to start you do a FO(fish only tank) or a FOWLR(fish only with live rock tank). You dont have to worry about keeping your...
