Newb First Post (Alas, a sad one)

I would check with your LFS guy and see if he will hold the fish after he gets them (like a quarantine time) just to make sure they are healthy and you aren't putting potential disease in your tank. just my opinion...

    5 Gallon Starter?

Question about PC retrofits... I'm looking at this one: http://www.aquabuys.com/miva/merchant.m ... ct_Count=0 which is a 14" 32W SmartPaq Retrofit. The tank I've been planing (FOREVER) is 14.5 in long. is the 14" the total length of the retrofit or just the lights?

    5 Gallon Starter?

What is the verdict on Candy Cane corals in small tanks? The more pictures I see of them the more interested I am in them.

    Is your tap safe???

I've seen the RO/DI water at my local fish store which they sell in freshwater and premixed saltwater in either 1 or 5 gal containers or bring your own. To my knowledge my Milwaukee water isn't so great (although it was okay with my fw, but I know salt water is more iffy) so really its either...

    Finally put my tank together...

To completely ignore the war you guys are having... I think no matter how much research you do there is a high risk with your 1st tank (or 1st after a while) is going to be kind of unstable and create issues until it just settles down and really balances itself out. Unlike FW saltwater take a...

    NEW BioCube 8

    LR from the ocean...

as long as its not illegal in your area and you aren't introducing bad things into your tank it prolly gonna be happy with all the life if i may change the subject temporarily-- what is old tank syndrome - i've heard of new tank but i guess not old?

    My 12g - Pretty New

Yea I don’t really give too much credit to the fish store people unless I know they are reliable… I went to a store I don’t usually go to just to look at frags and they guy asked what I was looking for an I explained I was working on a nano and he went on about how its only possible in a 10...

    My 12g - Pretty New

maybe create more height with the rock to create more caves/nooks for creatures to hang out in? other than that it looks good to me.

    JBJ Nanocube DX

That tank is really starting to come together (especially for free). Is there any particular reason you are switching salts? Or is it just personal preferance?

    LED Lighting?

Does anybody know anything about using LED lighting in nanos? Do they create enough light? I was thinking of using these Powerbrite lights in a 5gal Minibow tank but don't know if they will have enough power. http://www.current-usa.com/powerbrite.html Also I don't know which on would...

5 Gallon Bow — Freshwater Conversion

So my own curiousity about the LED lighting was peaked since SWNewb said that the PC would suck. since someone already managed to fit the lighting in it seems pretty plausible and seems to be a good option if you want to keep the hood the Mini Bow comes with (i want to becuase i think i'll look...
