    New Quarantine tank advice wanted

I don't really QT fish unless there's other fish in the tank. The QT process is very stressful for a fish and can make a disease they are already fighting take hold. I would have a hospital tank going so that if a disease does present, they can be moved over for treatment, since you don't want...

    Noob inherited a 3g Pico..Help

Brad, Would it be possible to post pictures of what you are talking about? With custom systems it is very hard to go by a description. If you were talking a bio-cube, we'd all know what you were talking about. Harder in a custom.

    help please- viper k2 70w or 150w???

A little overkill but with those options and the want for a clam... 70 prolly wouldn't be enough. Watch out though... a 150 will likely bleach some softies. So, I would recommend starting everything on the floor of the tank and then moving it up.

    Help! Everything is normal

It will take at least 2 weeks to fully cycle. If you don't start seeing something soon. Get a shrimp from the grocery store fish counter... Just one. And toss it in to rot.

do i need a protien skimmer?

You don't NEED a PS, though I'm liking mine now. However, 2 fully grown clowns get a bit crowded in a 10 gal. Also, a BTA (or any anemone for that matter) isn't generally recommended for either a new tank or a small tank. A new tank isn't stable enough, and a small tank has issues with, if...

I ignore my cichlids and they thrive, breed even... I ignore my saltwater, the hair algae and bryopsis overthrow the coral.

    Turbo snail.

I think my turbos would yell "bring it" and eat my hermits. But my hermits are the no-violent sort... the cortez ones or whatever and my turbos are HUGE. I think ur snail is dying.

Clown gobies are one of my faves. Unfortunately, my cat kept catching them... however, they're on my future short list.

    nitrates

I will agree to disagree. Fewer larger wcs actually are more effective in nitrate reduction as ur removing them faster than they can rebuilt. However, if u don't know how to PERFECTLY match water stick with more smaller changes. I do 9 gal. Weekly on my 20L and my nitrates don't break 10ppm...

    thermometer insanity!

From what I've experienced, the glass/ alcohol seem to be the most accurate over the long term. If u read them right. But really, in reefing, exact temp isn't as important as stability.

    CPR HOB Aquafuge...

Anyone have one? Do they like it? I'm doing my 20L build and bc it's sitting on an antique dresser, I can't overflow and drill. So, I'm wondering if anyone has one. Also, do they use the protein skimmer you can buy with it? Or should I go with the Tunze Nano? I've been skimmerless in the...
