in a refugium is it possible to have both copepods & live brine shrimp living together or do they need to be kept seperate from eachother if all that is going to be in there except some algea & snails ?

im looking at starting our third tank ( currently have 1- 10 glln 1- 24 nano cube looking at a 30 gallon eclipse plexi that we will also have a 15 gallon fuge under cabinet my ? is id like to do this one w/ black sand (tahitian moon from drs fostersmith) will be putting at least 2 bags...

i've heard & read about refugiums but haven't studied enough to know why do we need to have them set up( light wise) on opposite schedules for lighting

new to this forum but have had a tank (24 gallon aquapod ) for about a year :blob sad to say though that lost a lot of fish recently (my fault ) lost a shrimp, clown, manderin goby, pajama cardinal, 2 feather dusters oh & also a serpent starfish some I wanted others dont miss...
