Anemome got sucked in filter and its EVERYWHERE!

Get a bunch of carbon and change it out every couple days. Also get some filter floss (pillow stuffing) and run that. Does a great job of collecting fine particles and polishing your water. Other than that, make sure water params are good and stay on top of the water changes.

June contest ideas? We need your input

Since most people like to show off their beautiful fish or colorful corals, the clean up crew never get any love. How about sharing the love with the work horses of our tanks? I imagine some cool shots can be taken of snails and/or hermits.

    2 week old 9 gallon

Too soon to be adding live stock. You really should wait until Nitrites and ammonia are zero or you risk killing or at least greatly stressing your crabs which can lead to sickness and disease.

    New Nano Reef Tank

Im thinking about starting a nano reef but i dont know where to start. I dont want any fish in it or do i need to have fish? No, you do not have to have fish. Would a 10 gallon tank be ok to use? Yes, keep in mind that the smaller the tank the less stable it is. What kind of filter and lighting...

    Nano Fanatic!

You won't really have to start over. Get your sand and take the rock out of your tank, stick it in a bucket full of tank water that you siphoned out of the tank, remove all the crushed coral and replace with sand. Put you rock back in and put your water back in. Trust me, it WILL be a huge...

    Nano Fanatic!

I see a couple problems. First is using tap water. It is generally not recommended as tap water often contains many impurities that while they are not bad for us, can be harmful or even devastating to your tank. I would strongly recommend using RO/DI water or distilled water. Second, adding...

    Nano Fanatic!

Yeah, hard lesson but you just learned that you can rarely believe your LFS. I am sure they charged more for that rock too. We have the same issues in the states. LFS telling you whatever so they can make a quick sale. That is why places like this are great. You are told the truth and you have...

    NEED HELP LOWERING SPECIFIC GRAVITY

Don't sweat it too much. That is a bit high but not terrible. The important thing is, if things get out of whack like that, which sometimes they do, don't panic and starting freaking out. Not saying that you are. Just saying in general. Some people will see something pretty minor wrong and go...

    Best way to reduce phosphate?

Well, once your tank is mature you want really have to test that often. Just like my FW tank. I have not tested it literally in several years. It is mature and as long as the maintenance is done, everything is good. SW tanks take just a bit more work since you have to make water for water...

    Nano Fanatic!

Which I don't understand what really happened if the rock you got was cured. How long was it out of the water? You did buy it locally, correct? I would say that one of the chemical medias you used caused the pH crash which killed your critters which caused the ammonia. Take out all the media, do...

    Best way to reduce phosphate?

Many people will save the waste water to wash dishes with or water plants, water the animals, wash clothes, ect....it isn't dirty water, just has dissolved solids that are bad for your tank.

    Nano Fanatic!

Wow...I would do a big water change and take out as many dead things as you can find. They will really mess up your water.

    Best way to reduce phosphate?

Check this unit out. Doesn't look like much but gets wonderful reviews and all users I know report 0 TDS. It is a small unit that does not need to be mounted so you can pull it out, make your water, then put it away. http://www.airwaterice.com/product/1MMD ... Added.html

New 6G Nano Tank (first time)

No LR in the back. It will trap detritus and cause you water problems, same as the filter sponges and ceramic rings. Try to find Chemi-Pure but if you can't, regular activated carbon will work but you will need to change it out more often. Chemi-pure will last several months while carbon only a...
