    A few pics from a friend's tank.

Blastomosa. That red/orange shroom is really beautiful. One of my favorites of the stuff in her tank. B

New to reef aquarium and need opinions please.

I like the nanocubes for their clean look. However I wouldn't spend my money on one. You've probably noticed that most of them need to be modded in one fashion or another. With the cost of the cube, and especially with any upgrades, I could easily setup a regular sized 29g tank with a fuge...

Brand New, I am!! Tank Cycle questions

No food. Leaving the light on will encourage algae blooms. At the very least I'd cut it down to a couple hours a day. Once the cycle is complete I'd move it up to 4hrs a day, then a week later go up to 8hrs. With your levels reading the way they are and the age of the tank, you're...

    PROTEIN SKIMMER ??

There is no mass produced skimmer that will fit your tank without modifying the tank. The nanotuners one is the only one. Your best bet is to place your order and just be patient. B

I'd just go with the new tube. You'll have to stick to the same wattage. The higher wattage bulbs won't work as the ballast isn't rated to push the higher wattage bulbs. The fish won't care one bit. Honestly under that small amount of light I wouldn't expect to be able to keep any...

need advice on what to buy...

Most slugs won't make it. They tend to have very specialized diets, and nanos simply won't have enough for them to eat. Sea horses are a possiblity but they are difficult to keep, and have a lot of specialized requirements. Check out this site for more info on what you'd need to do to keep...

    MY TANK PIC & MORE

I don't know where you posted the question. The answer is that they're filter feeders, so phyto of some sort is probably necessary, moderate to high flow. Unfortunately they have horrible survival rates in aquariums. B

    MY TANK PIC & MORE

Not to be mean, but mandarins aren't suitable for nanos. Unless you've gotten lucky and gotten the 1/1000 that'll take prepared food they'll slowly starve to death in that size tank. B

    Few new pics.

Olympus c-5050 zoom. It's a couple years old, but it does a good job. I'm thinking serisiously about getting a digital rebel, but I don't really want to spend the money right now. B

Babycakes where are you getting your yasha hase's that they're that cheap. The cheapest I've seen them without a pistol shrimp is $55, and the cheapest with the shrimp was $75. B

For that small a tank, with one fish, low lights, no corals, etc... you don't really need a skimmer. Most of your filtration is going to be handled by the liverock, and sand, and weekly 10-15% water changes. The type of filter you're talking about that's integral to the hood fo the tank...

    First Post, have some questions..

Until you can either test the water, or have it tested at the LFS I wouldn't put any fish in the tank. When you do, I'd only put one in, then wait a couple weeks before adding another. The tank will need time to adjust to changes in ammonia production, (fish waste). Putting several in at once...

    Few new pics.

Heh heh....Well, as of this morning I have a 30g cube, a 10g tank with not much in it, and a 6g nano at work. These are all from last week before I tore down my 75g/40g system, and a 25g small predator tank. B
