I think that one of the best options mentioned so far would be the 4x65 watt PC fixture. The 2x96 might do okay but IMO it will be on the weak side. With the 4x65 you have an additional 34 watts on each side of the tank, though not alot more it could mean the difference between a coral barely...

I really like your solution Dragon, I didn't think about raising the wall. I just laid a plastic ruler acrossed the top of the wall so it has an overhang, I haven't had any fish in the sump since.

First you need to decide what kind of tank do you want, full reef, fish only, species tank, etc. This will help decide what you need and what kind of equipment you will have to have. Also if you want corals decide what kind, this will aid you in choosing the lights. HTH, Skip BTW...

You should also consider breeder tanks, they are 18" front to back instead of 12" and are easier to aquascape since you have more space to built a solid footprint in. Either a 15 regular (12x12x24) or a 20 or 30 breeder would be my choice if I were trying to build a new tank. Skip

You may want to forget about the scallop. I think you are talking about flame scallops and from personal experience they don't do well in captivity. They are filter feeders and need to bed target fed very frequently, as if this isn't enough of a chore to keep them they also tend to move all...

The biggest things I think will need to be done are to get rid of any bio media and add lighting that is appropriate for what you plan on keeping in the tank. A protien skimmer would be another option if it doesn't have one already. The only other thing I can think of right now is upgrading...

I have to agree with Incysor on this one. The skimmers from nanotuners are supposed to either be in now or towards the end of the week and they are going to start shipping them as soon as they get them.
