if i were you, i would go with the 20L, but if you have your heart set on a nanocube, i would go with a nanocube 12 because those can be modded easier than the biocubes so far, www.nanocustoms.com have the mods and parts.

I think that nano-reefs are pretty easy, you just have to put in the effort and money if you want to do one well. I always loved nanocubes, so i am biased toward them, but if you really like to customize your tank, go for the 20l. There are many more options for the 20 long than the nanocube...
