Help! Green Clown Goby not eating

How long have you had him? I have been hearing horror stories regarding clown gobies wasting away and never eating for several months. I am not sure if its the area they are collecting from or the method but there has been alot of bad reports on clown gobies. You may also try either garlic or...

    My fairly new 6G

Here is a link to one Steven. I have been using them on both of my cubes and think they help prevent dead spots pretty well. I took a sheet metal nibbler and removed the flange you see on the rear of the deflector, it is there for another application where a sponge is added for more biological...

Incysor, Thanks for the input about the Culligan water, I thought it was RO but I guess I made a false assumption. Thank you for correcting my mistake. Skip

    My fairly new 6G

Looks nice. How long has it been set up? Is the tank a Nanocube? Like Incysor mentioned watch the galaxia close!

I guess I made a bad choice of words, the new return pump should be fine but if you desire more flow then you could upgrade it later. You usually want around 10x the tanks volume for turnover for SPS corals. This number can be a little harder to acheive in some of the nanos but it is a kind of...

My mistake Jeff, the lighting specs I gave are for the 12 gallon nanocube and the need for the surface skimmer was with the 2005 models. I forgot that the new models have a surface skimmer. The lights for the 24 are the 32 watt PCs that you saw and not the 24 watters I posted about. I have a...

New to the page. Here's my 4 gallon.

A MH would definately be doable but can we say evaporation? I would think that an auto top-off would alomost be mandatory with MH on a tank this small. You would be able to put anything you wanted in there though. I am interested to see where you end up going with this project. Skip

If you have any DIY experience then a Nanocube could still work. There are a couple of mods that need to be done IMO and they are upgrading the lights, the return pump and adding a surface skimmer. The lights can be bought in kit form from www.nanocustoms.com , I would use either their 3.24 or...

Here is a link to a Coralife fixture that is fairly inexpensive, you can also get an extra set of bulbs for 1/2 off when you buy the fixture. Here is the link: http://www.hellolights.com/302xcoaqpcho.html . BTW this unit does not have moonlights built in but they do sell them as an add-on...

    blue candy cane

I looked at a couple of the on-loine vendors sites and their coral descriptions said that they do come in blue but they didn't have any for sale to compare pricing. There were a couple of blue-greens at frags.org but they looked more green to me. I guess alot of the color stuff is in the eye...

    extra light

An additional 13 watts of light would be a good addition but if you only add actinic it may look too blue for your taste but it is a personal opinion on what looks good and whats too blue. If you only want additional light then a second 50/50 bulb would just make the tank look brighter than it...

    First Nano Effort...

There are several people on the board here that use either Nutri-seawater or Catalina water, both of which are natural saltwater that has been filtered and packaged for immediate use after equalizing temperatures. I have been using RO/DI water in my aquariums. An RO (reverse osmosis) filter...

    Clams in a nano?

:welcome to nanotank! One thing to keep in mind with smaller clams (less than 3 inches or so) is that they mainly feed on phytoplankton. They don't have enough zoxanthellae in their mantles to produce an adequate amount food for them to survive solely on photosynthesis. Make sure to keep...
