    Heres a few new pics.

I am so jealous of your picture taking abilities, my camera sucks at macro shots.

2005 Fall Contest - Vote for the winner

With so many good pics its a shame that some people feel that need to cheat in order to win. IMO that type of behaviour cheapens contests like this one.

    broken heater

I agree that you shouldn't have a problem unless the heater was ancient. The anenome may have even been sensitive to any stray electricity that was released when the heater broke.

    What filtration would you prefer...?

I haven't used the two part Kent product (I have used many other Kent products and have always liked them though) but I have used B-Ionic and C-Balance with success. If the Kent is whats available in your area then I wouldn't hesitate to use it, I just haven't tried it as yet myself. Skip

When is the next chat going to be?

The title says it all, is there another chat planned for anytime in the near future or are we going to keep it on hold until after the holidays? Just curious, I enjoyed the last chat and I don't want to miss the next one if possible. Skip

How many inverts should you have?

I want to point out that there are some inverts that are not suitable for nano tanks. Some examples of these are abalones, fighting or queen conches, turbo snails (they tend to bulldoze things around the tank), bumble bee snails (these are actually not cleaners, they are carnivores), urchins...

    What filtration would you prefer...?

Between skimming and the use of activated carbon alot of the additives and trace elements are quickly removed from our aquariums. Iodine is one that is quickly removed depending upon the type of iodine in your tank (iodine, iodate, or iodide), this is also one element that should be tested for...

    Another tank of no one

Very nice job on the canopy and stand. What kind of filters are those, I can't quite make out the brand. Keep us posted on the progress. Skip

    equipment questions

I second the Remora, I have one and I am quite satisfied with it. I had a BakPak 2R in the past and it also worked well but it was quite a bit noisier. As far as powerheads are concerned I have been well satisfied with MaxiJets. I have 5 or 6 MJ 1200s in my various tanks and they have all...

2005 Fall Contest - Vote for the winner

I don't think the person that submitted that pic wants to answer until the contest is over since the pics are supposed to be anonymous.

    What filtration would you prefer...?

I like both refugiums and skimmers. I like the refugium because it is a natural way to remove nitrates as well as a possible natural food source if it has a good pod population. The thing that attracts me to a skimmer is that it removes compounds from the water column before they have a chance...

Aiptasia? Do I need to be worried about getting rid of them?

I have used a strong kalkwasser solution with success, I used a syringe and inject them right in the center and they dissolve into nothing. Skip

How many inverts should you have?

There really is no correct answer to your question. You need however many it takes to keep your tank clean. In a 33 gallon tank I would start out with around 20 or so different cleaners and see how well they keep things cleaned and go from there. I personally like a wide variety of snails...

New tank and brown algy bloom

If this brown algae looks like brown dust or dirt which easily blows off then it is just diatom algae and is a normal part of the cycle in a new tank. If it has a more slime like consistency then it is most like cyanobacteria like Sadie already mentioned. Good luck, Skip
