    thermometer insanity!

The AC Jr works great. The best thing is that it will control the heater AND a fan/cooler so that it minimizes temp swing. Plus, if the heater gets stuck on, it doesnt matter because the AC Jr will turn it off. Also, if the tank does get above a specified temp, you can program it to turn off...

    thermometer insanity!

The coralife digital thermometer's accuracy range is +-1.5 degrees, just FYI. That isnt a very accurate range. Jesse

    Anemone or zoanthid?

That looks to me like a flower anemone, flower rock anemone, Phymanthus crucifer, whatever you want to call it. Here is a picture of a Phymanthus crucifer for comparison... Jesse

Encouraging Ocellaris Clownfish pair to host an anenome

My ocellaris recently started hosting my neon green toadstool! I had a gold strip maroon that took to a rose BTA while the anemone was still cupped in my hand! I didnt even had time to rest in on the LR. Jesse

    Is your tap safe???

Yes it definitely handles chloramines, but you may want to read this from the chloramine article that I posted... "Other products, such as hydroxymethanesulfonate (HOCH2SO3-; a known ammonia binder15 patented for aquarium uses by John F. Kuhns16 (sold as Amquel by Kordon and ClorAm-X by Reed...

    Is your tap safe???

I forgot to mention, if you can find the water report for your area, you can send it to any of the companies that I listed above and they will match you up to the appropriate unit specifically for your tap water. Jesse

    Is your tap safe???

I dont trust any other means other than my own salt (coralife) and my RO/Di water from my filter. I used to buy both "ro/di" and pre-mixed saltwater from my LFS and then one day I got a TDS meter! The TDS of my LFS's "RO/Di" water was hovering around 30ppm! The SG of the pre-mixed saltwater...

Can I use this cover on this Hydor unit?

No you cant use the hydor on that pump. The flow coming from the koralia is awesome the way it is... very gentle and dispersed. I have a koralia nano in my 12g and I love it. Jesse

    opinions wanted on protein skimmers

Of the two you listed, I would go with the Aqua C. Do you want an in-sump skimmer or a hang-on-the-back type? How much are you looking to spend? Jesse

    The 6 Gallon

Looks good. :welcome to nanotank.com! I gotta warn you though... 2x20 watt screw-in fluorescent lamps are not enough for many corals. I would consider that low-light. The light is not easily reflected and thus alot of the light is lost. You would probably be better off trying to retro in...
