Pico transitioned to JBJ 6 gallon...a new beginning

Steve, Too bad about the plate coral, I knew he would be too big. They expand and are best suited for larger tanks. Keep to the fungi plate, they are more smaller and their colors awesome green or orange. Mike

what do i need to run a 10 gal tank

You can use that filter for smaller tanks but for a 10 gallon I would go to the next size up. You could use a good mechanical filter that keeps your tank clean. You would be taxing the little mini too much undet the 10. I ran that filter on a 3.5 and then placed it in my 1 gallon tank. Mike

    help please!!!

I second what dragon said. Don't worry, it's part of the cycling period. Your tank will always go through smaller blooms in the future, much smaller. Mike

    Mike's new Pico....

Hey Reefers, Here is an update of my pico. I let the lights on a full day and then I started taking pics. I moved some pieces around and did my first frag from my nano to my pico. I fragged out two heads from my candy cane coral from my larnie tank. Hope you guys and gals like my new...

    Mike's new Pico....

Hey Reefers, Here is the heater that I purchased for my pico. I decided to go with a 50 watt titanium heater. It's super small and the thermo dial is on the outside. It hid well behind my rocks, better than any other heater in it's class. And here are the first set of pictures of...

    R.I.P Memorial Thread

Hey Reefers, On a sader note, Conan passed away yesterday. He was my yellow gumdrop aka citron goby and clown goby. He was our little pet for 6 months. He was the master of my Larnie edition untill I added a RBTA and my little ocellaris. He ate that day and was fine, the next day I...

Is this a plug in and play kit?

Steph, I ordered that exact ballast kit 2 months ago from Hello lights. I sent it back and I'll tell you why. You have to have somewhere to mount it. It's designed for the eclipse housing so if you have that, you'll be okay. Also the wiring is way too simple, just connect a couple...

Larnie Edition w/ 2 clowns hosting rose...

That neat looking fern is not a decoration, I would never place deco art in any of my tanks. That is red macro algae that was fragged for me from Atlantis aquarium. Only cost me 12 dollars for the small bunch, it's doing great, and I love the way it looks like a small kelp bed. You could...

Larnie Edition w/ 2 clowns hosting rose...

Thanks for the compliments bro, I've finally taken the plunge with an anenome. I haven't gone with an RBTA since I first started my original cube 1 year ago, that idea failed with just 24 watts of power. He became the worlds greatest anenome swimmer, use to do laps around my cube trying to...

Larnie Edition w/ 2 clowns hosting rose...

Hey Reefers, I finally got my larnie edtion the way I wanted, lost of colors and a rose anenome for my two little clowns. The larger one came from my other tank MikeGuerrero series tank in the living room. She is larger and presumably female, dropped her in the other tank with the smaller...

    Mike's new Pico....

Here is the digital temp gauge that I purchased today. I'll be running temps in the night to see if I can go without a heater. The one I saw is kinda of bulky and if I can go without one it would be great. Mike

    Mike's new Pico....

Hey Reefers, Here is a continuous documentary on my pico. I picked up 1.5 lbs of premium live rock from Atlantis Aquarium in Fremont. I have taken several pics of the rock so you can see the quality pieces I picked up. The live rock only cost me $11.99. Now I will be monitoring the...

    Heaters???

I think heaters in mini reef tanks are overkill but just a safety precaution. I have one 50 watt EBO Jagger in each nano that is set with the dial on 77 degrees. However, over the course of time I've noticed that my heater against my digital temp gauge is different. The problem I would...

    Mike's new Pico....

Dragon, I'm not sure what type of theme this tank will be. But I will tell you this, I'm going to push the envelope on this mini tank, since it has a small distance from light to sand bed, I believe light intensity on coral will be greater. Since I have two other tanks and one has space...

    Mike's new Pico....

Skip, I agree with you 100 percent regarding the mini heater. I went over to my LFS and took it out and read the instructions. You are right, it has no thermalstat and says in big letters, to disconnect heater if your room reaches 76 degrees. Talk about cheesy, I don't have time to...

    12g nano pics.....comin' along!

Sulp, Your aquascapping looks great, you have given yourself plenty of spots to place your corals. Go slowly since it's so easy to quickly run out of real estate. So you want to market high the spots you have. Hope this sheds some light. Mike
