Pico transitioned to JBJ 6 gallon...a new beginning

Oh my, Damn, dude I'm so sorry about your corals. I learned my lesson hard and never again did I purchase an LPS with long tentacles, it was a night-mare. It's ironic because it was my plate coral that suffered a vicious attack from my evil frogspawn. It's however, different in your...

Pico transitioned to JBJ 6 gallon...a new beginning

It wasn't the wrong link. I sent that link for you to consider the upgrade and get a free RBTA for your nemos. Mine split because of the increased lighting and good water quality. You could house the baby in your 6 gallon cube with the simple upgrade. Maybe you'll get a good price on the...

    Tank Update

Congrats on tanking 2nd prize. Your tank looks awesome, even better that you moved the heater, great spot where it's at. Now you tank looks more natural and you have room to expand towards the surface. Good choice... Mike

    Upgraded pump for a nanocube

Open you hood completely. Right behind your Y nozzle, you have an L shaped elbow made of plastic thats connected to the tubbing and to a notch on the wall. If you were to remove it and the whole pump, you'd have this: Take a look at that elbow shapped like an L that is colored white...

Pico transitioned to JBJ 6 gallon...a new beginning

Dragon, Check this out this: http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/showthr ... adid=54313 With my up-graded lights, my RBTA split, I have two. Would you like me to send you the baby one that split? Mike

    Upgraded pump for a nanocube

I've heard that if you just detach the left arm of the return pump, you'll get super flow. So much flow that you have to lower the rate via the lever. Someone needs to try it, just make sure you bend over the tube to the return. Apparently, for every left arm you have, you cause more...

Pico transitioned to JBJ 6 gallon...a new beginning

Nice pick, I'd keep a close eye on him over the weekend to see his eating behavior. He has the same body structure of the bumble bee shrimp that I purchased and had to take back. Apparently most LFS will sell a new shrimp without knowing what it eats. I watched for days as my bubble bee...

    Upgraded pump for a nanocube

I too have a mini-jet 606 in both my 12 gallon cubes. But I sure would like to rid myself of the extra pumps I have, due to heat. Let me know how powerful they are just as stand alone. Mike

    Mike's new Pico....

Dragon, As you can see, I've started the race to find a tool to keep my temps down. I'll know in a couple days the success of the HD cooler. Tah tah for now.... Mike

    Mike's new Pico....

Hi DJ, Thanks for compliments on my pico. I've actually put hardly any work into it, honestly. It's a frag of my two nano cubes, let me explain. I've had a lot of little frags sitting in both tanks and then I also purchased some new frags from a new LFS I found. The live rocks were...

    Heaters???

DJ, Swings of temp are really bad, if they occur suddenly. But gradual swing over many hours can be tolerated by many corals and fish. But a heater is always the best bet to avoid bottom drops in temps. Mike

    Mike's new Pico....

Hey Reefers, Here is an update on my heating problem. Most of you know that when you have a light so close to the surface you trap air, and through convection that heat is transfered into the main tank. I could've had my light hang through legs but I would've suffered too much...

    Tank Update

Love your tank, you have plenty of cool spots to place new corals or add critters. One small suggestion, do you have room to hide your heater? Maybe behind your rocks? Just an idea.... Mike

    Emerald crabs

I added one to my 12 gallon JBJ cube with all the reservations you have. And you know what, he's doing fine. Eats only algae, but you know what, I have tons of algae in my tank for him to keep busy. Make sure you have enough algae to keep him busy. Mike I've had mine over 1 month....

    Mike's new Pico....

Hi Stephane, The answer is yes, call 1 510 583-5167 and ask for James of Aquascene in Hayward, Ca. He has already shipped out one to the east coast. I'm sure he can do one for Canada. They are very cheap only $12.99 for the tank I have. Tell him, Mike Guerrero sent you.... :)
